I Got HD Brows!

Hello

So I got HD brows done after weeks of deliberation. AND I AM SO GLAD I DID! I love them! They are in no way too thin like the threading ladies have done previously.

I contacted the Ugly Ducking Beauty parlour and was invited in for a patch test before my treatment which was booked 3 days later. My eyebrows were tinted, then waxed, then threaded and finally plucked. I thought that I was going to have the thinnest brows EVER and was so scared to look in the mirror but I was so surprised to see they were still thick. They shape allows me to still grow my eyebrows while having them shaped.

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE!!!

I am so in love with them! They look so much better and I would totally recommend them!

The Christmas Tag

Christmas...

Now, I know it isn't Christmas yet, but it is fast approaching and I've seen a few people answer this so thought I'd give it a whirl.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
100% Disney's version of The Christmas Carol. My absolute favourite ever! Apparently, when I was a toddler I'd make my mum put this on in the height of Summer. I love that film!

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning! Never been any different, I know people who wait until Christmas night!

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
Yes, one Christmas at about 2am, I woke my brother up and made him rush downstairs because Santa had been. I was soooo excited, but we caught our mum on the stairs. My poor brother was half asleep trudging downstairs, to this day I still wake him up! I'm 21........such a big kid.

4. Favourite festive food?
Christmas Dinner! I love a roast dinner as it is so naturally it has to be the Christmas dinner!!!

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Honestly cannot choose! Had so many good presents over the years.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Has to be Christmas dinner cooking...or when my mum makes mince pies.

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Nope, when we was younger we used to go Christmas Eve Mass though.

8. What tops your tree?
A Gold Star. When I was younger I liked my mums cousins angel so much he gave it to me and that still comes out for display.

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
Probably some sort of pet! Considering I am not an animal person I am not sure why I would ask for them. I do now have a cat but that wasn't a Christmas present.

10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
It's about family time! And I absolutely love the way children's faces light up when they talk about Santa! I wish I was that young and excited again.

HD Brows

Hello...

So, as I posted before, I have been growing out my eyebrows and now they need doing. They are soooo bad they make me ill! They're growing at different rates and all sorts. I never realised how much difference eyebrows make until now!

I have been looking into HD brows as it looks like they allow your eyebrows to continue growing back while re-shaping them. I have watched a few YouTube video's and read a few reviews but I am not entirely convinced. I don't want to go there and they re-butcher my eyebrows and my growing them out effort has been wasted.

Has anyone ever had the HD brows, and what were they like for them? Would you recommend it?

Growing up and supposedly having it all figured out...

Hello!

I have recently been thinking about where I am in life and how it could have been different.

When I was 10 I was going to be a hairdresser.
When I was 13 I was going to be a forensic scientist.
When I was 16 I was going to be in media but do hairdressing on the side.
When I was 17 I was going to be a Sports Journalist, then an accountant, then a journalist again.
When I was 18 I was going to be a Sports Journalist after studying a History degree, then by going on a Journalist course.

When I was 18 I left college and went to work and none of the above happened.

When I was 18 I was unemployed and unable to get a job...so I worked on an Ice Rink for some money...I don't even like Ice Skating.
Then I worked in a school, then a background screening company then the Olympics.
When I was 19 I was a Team Leader on one of the biggest Sporting Events ever.

Then I was unemployed again.

Then I got the job I'm doing now, I'm still there and I'm happy.

What I am trying to say is things don't go to plan and it may work out well in the end. I'm not the hairdresser/forensic scientist/journalist/accountant I thought I would be, but I'm working and enjoying what I do.

Up until the age of 16 I thought that by 21 I would have it all figured out, how wrong was I?! I may go to work, drive a car and pay some bills but in no way do I feel like I am cut out to be an adult. I couldn't wait to grow up and be independent and cool (or so I thought) but I still wish I was in secondary school.

So, no, by 21 you don't have it all figured out, but it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Carry on doing what you're doing and it will all work itself out in the end...or so I hope! :)

Growing out my eyebrows...

Hello lovelies!

I am having to grow out my eyebrows at the moment due to the fact the lady didn't listen to me, got thread happy, and threaded them WWWAAAAYYYY too thin. Such agg right now! I used to have lovely thick eyebrows but slowly but surely a change of eyebrow lady meant I got thinner eyebrows.

I have been meaning to grow them out for a while but the regrowth has always made me sick because it looks so vile, but my dad laughing at how thin they are not filled in made me realise I really need thick eyebrows back!

I do love the shape threading gives and its my preferred method of eyebrow shaping but I could cry at how thin my eyebrows are lately!

I suppose this will take a while so does anyone have any tips on how to grow them back faster? Or disguise the horrible looking regrowth? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!!! Hopefully when they do grow out and I get them TIDYED (eyebrow lady read tidy not thin out) up they wont ever be thin again...hopefully.

Has anyone else has some eyebrow disasters?

October!

I love October.

The beginning of Autumn for me! Absolutely love the weather this time of year, not too hot and not too cold. I am a Winter baby and hate the humidity of the London Summer! I don't mind being on holiday where I am in a bikini and able to cool down in the pool or sea, but London Summer and having to go to work during the hot stuffy heat really aggs me.

Although the dark mornings and nights depress me, I love this time of year. Coming up to Halloween and Bonfire Night...Christmas will be here soon! After after Christmas my big adventure starts! Hate wishing my life away but hurry up January!

It's just the snuggle time, sit in a read a book in the heat time, watch soppy films in bed time. Ohhhh bring on the Autumn/Winter!

What is your favourite time of year?

Hair...AGAIN...

Hello lovelies.

I know it's another hair post, but I just have to share this amazing Leave-in conditioner I have discovered.

My mum came home with a sample packet of the "Mixed Roots Leave-in conditioner" and I thought 'oh just another product that I wont like' well how wrong was i?!?!?! I first tried it on Saturday, applied it to wet hair but still put on my Shockwaves mousse as usual, but I could tell there was a difference, normally I have at least one bit of hair that frizzes but all my hair looked really good. I never say that about my hair so I was quite impressed so I wanted to know what it was like on its own. Below is a picture of my hair with the conditioner in and my mousse on top of it.

Oh and that's my friend Rachael!
So Monday morning I applied it to wet hair and combed it through and let it dry naturally as I drove to work, I honestly thought that after 15 minutes I would have a frizz ball on my head but I cannot believe how well it stayed, it was like I had my mousse on but my hair looked so much healthier and not weighed down like it does sometimes with mousse. It actually even stayed nice after I went out in the rain and my hair got slightly wet (I know, so unheard of for curly haired girls). I honestly would recommend this so so so much! I'm gonna order a big bottle from them for sure.

When looking at their site I found there's so much more stuff I want to try and it even tells you which "step" to use a certain product on your hair. There's also videos going in depth about products and what steps to use them in. I'm so excited to sit there and watch them all! These products are obviously made by people who know the trials and tribulations of having curly/mixed race hair.

Check them out at www.mixedroots.co.uk.

What I have been up to...

Hello...

I haven't posted in a while as I've been quite busy!

I have just returned from a holiday to Northern Cyprus which was lovely and a nice break. It was sooooo hot and I definitely will be going back there as where I stayed din't really let me explore Cyprus and I felt I didn't experience the culture.

I have an exciting adventure coming up soon which I am yet to reveal but I cannot wait! Also, where I work gets busier once the Winter creeps in.

I have also been interested in the Premier League and how it is panning out and I love how bad Manchester United are lately, they really need to sort out their defense! Cannot believe they had a 3 - 1 lead to newly promoted Leicester then lost 5 - 3! Although I am not best pleased Chelsea drew to Manchester City and Frank Lampard scored :(

Hopefully now I can post a bit more!

What has everyone else been up to?

Holiday prepping...

Hello lovelies...

It's holiday season!!! So I thought I would do a post on my holiday prep!

Ooooo, doesn't that look lovely!

1. Try and get a holiday body in 2 weeks.
Yes, I am that person that promises they will go to the gym, goes once then doesn't go again for months! Then as my holiday looms closer I panic, try and cut out bread and attempt to go the gym. I find cutting out carbs and upping water intake debloats me. I also try and cut out any treats during the week in the hope it will do SOMETHING.

2. Deep condition my hair.
The sun dries it out, the sea dries it out and the chlorine dries it out so I like to have my hair ready and do a deep condition with my Moroccan Oil hair mask once a week in the month leading to the holiday.

3. Exfoliate.
It just means you will get a better tan faster and more even...well that's what I have found any way! So in the weeks leading up to the holiday I will use Soap and Glory's Flake Away.

4. Book research.
I love a good book and I am a fast reader so for a weeks holiday I literally will take about 5 books. I love lounging around the pool/sea tanning it up while reading. BUT, it HAS to be a good book and I am very fussy about books so I have to do a good research before hand. I am currently reading "Police" by Jo Nesbo and it's ok so if I was going on holiday I would definitely look into other books by him. Maybe I will even do a post reviewing the book.

4. Wardrobe clear out.
Packing always starts a wardrobe clear out! I find doing this also stops me over buying stuff I really don't need!

5. Research of the area.
I like the know where I am going and what there is to do in the area. Although I love relaxing in the sun sometimes it gets a bit boring and I like to know what options I have to explore.

How do you prepare for your holiday? Please comment and let me know.

I didn't go to Uni, and I'm glad...

Hello lovelies!

A Level results were released today and I've seen a few people tweet/facebook/instragram their Uni acceptance, but I am sure there are some people, like me, who didn't end up going to Uni.

Let me start off by saying that I always wanted to go to University, but that changed during the second year of college. I went to a different college that I was initially set on going to partly because I couldn't change my Media course to Maths (I did Maths, Psychology and English Lit A Levels, with a Psychology AS) so I ended up going to a college that alot of the girls I went to school with went to. I've never been someone who liked exams nor have I been someone who managed to do an exam to my full potential and I am not sure exams are the best way to ascertain someones intelligence and to be honest I didn't do great in my A Levels...I'm not going to go into it because that would take FOREVER.

So, along comes results day and I didn't get into Hertfordshire to do the History course I wanted to do which ultimately was supposed to take me onto a sports journalism career. What was I going to do now? Well get myself a job of course! I have never been someone who could just sit at home doing nothing. I was already working that Summer but September 2011 I was unemployed and from then on I've had a succession of about 6 jobs and I wouldn't change it at all.

Every job I have had has been brilliant (they have all been short term contracts bar the job I am currently doing and have been in for a year and a half). If I had gone to University I would never have been able to experience the Olympics from inside the Athletes Village as I worked for LOCOG. Nor would I be able to be completed money independent, I know Uni makes you more independent as a person, but I am debt free with my own money to spend on myself. Sometimes I wonder what it would've like to live on campus/with flatmates but I did visit a few friends while they were away and got a taster.

I definitely did not miss the stress of deadlines. I remember calling my friend Rachael while she was writing her dissertation and literally being told "dissertation speak to you later" for about 3 months! Nor do I miss the stress of revision and exams...I HATED THEM.

I did miss learning though and I'm still contemplating a History learning course, without the exams!!!, because I loved learning about historical events and people!

So don't stress if you didn't get into Uni, it's not the end of the world. Get yourself job searching or looking into alternative ways into a profession such as an apprenticeship. If you are dead set on it though, look into clearing, I probably could have done that and gone to Uni, but I decided not to. Or look into resitting certain modules/subjects, speak to your college teachers and I am sure they will help you out. Maybe you do end up in Uni but just a year later than you planned, there's nothing wrong with that either.

I can honestly say I am so glad I didn't go to Uni and not getting into my first choice didn't stop me from progressing. I may not be in Sports Journalism as I envisioned at 18, maybe I can still look into getting into it if I really wanted to, but I have had such good experiences and I have so much to look forward to in the next few months!

Whatever you do chose to do, don't stress!

Premier League is back soon...

Hello!

Most people who know know that I'm absolutely football mad and it's not long until the Premier League is back! Obviously I want Chelsea to win it and do well but I do think it will be an interesting season. I can't wait to see how Van Gaal does at Man Utd and how Liverpool fair without Suarez.

My workplace are doig the Sky Sports Fantasy Football League but it's so hard with a money limit on what players you can buy! Last season we did the Daily Telegraph one and I didn't do very well because I kept forgetting to change my team when players got injured or were suspended. I think I was 10 out of 17 or something!

Chelsea need a striker, I'm not convinced by Costa nor do I think bringing back Drogba was a good idea! And we all know what Torres is like!

Who do you think will do well this season?

Hair again...

Hello!

In my "Hair Saviour" post, I raved about my new discovery of the Aussie Curl Definition Serum and said I would try the rest of the Frizz Collection...and I have!

I bought the shampoo, conditioner and lightweight conditioning spray!

The shampoo and conditioner I used like I would any other, but I was a bit annoyed the conditioner is 50ml smaller than the shampoo as I tend to use more conditioner on my hair. As I suspected though after use my hair already felt softer and looked bouncier!!!

I then used the serum as stated in my earlier post before applying my Shockwaves Mousse. As the weather in London has got hotter and more humid, I found that the hair became an absolute frizz ball. Nightmare. The NEW Miracle Recharge Frizz Remedy Conditioning Spray has been another god send, spray on the frizzy bits or all over, pat/smooth down (personal preference) and curls galore. Bye bye frizzy hair caused by humidity.

I just love how the Aussie products have transformed my curls and they are softer, bouncier and less frizzier!

Also, Boots are doing a 3 for £10 deal on all Aussie Hair care at the moment!!!

I really want to try the Dual Personality Conditioning Milk but I haven't seen it in Boots yet so will keep my eye out.

DO you like Aussie Hair products? Let me know below.

Clearing out...

Hello

I always try to clear out my wardrobe/room every 3 months. I say try because it never properly happens. In my mind I am like "anything I have not worn/don't see myself wearing I will get rid of", then I start looking through my clothes like "well I COULD wear this again" and there it stays in my wardrobe! Then 3 months later the same cycle happens!!!

Even when I do make space for more clothes that I seem to buy every week, (I literally live in Westfield!!!) my wardrobe is SOOO over crowded! Yet I always find myself never knowing what to wear. Lets take this Saturday for example, I am off the a BBQ/housewarming and I have like 7 maxi dresses, yet not one of them is what I want to wear, decide to try Westfield and I cannot find a thing!!! SO frustrating!!

I'm sure I can rustle up something but please comment below if you have any tips on clearing your wardrobe or room out!

Benefit's They're Real Eyeliner...

I love the "They're Real" range at Benefit! I first got the mascara a while back and I am ALWAYS complimented on how my eyelashes look. They are naturally long and curly but this mascara gives them the WOW factor. So when I heard they were bringing out an eyeliner, I had to buy it.

I asked the make up artist at the counter to apply it and I just loved it, I should have taken up her offer of trying it there and then though. I attempted to rush the application for the first time and it went oh so wrong, definitely should've given myself practise time.

However, after some practise I have fallen in love with it. The concept of a gel and pen liner coming together has worked perfectly. It just glides on and stays FOREVER, no re application needed. I need to go and purchase the remover because it just stays on so so so well! Only one or two twists are needed and you have enough product for your whole eye.

Although some people may begrudge paying £38 for an eyeliner (£18.50) and mascara (£19.50), it is definitely well worth it.

 Go get this eyeliner!!!

No more World Cup!

The World Cup is over!

Only another four years to wait!

At least the Premier League is back next month!

I absolutely love the World Cup and think its fantastic how it brings people together, even people who don't normally watch football. Such a shame England's team is awful! I even managed to come second in my work sweepstake!

Everyone seems to differ in the bet goal of the tournament, I still think it's RVP's wonder header! Other people say Cahills, others Rodriguez. What was yours?

Now it's time to get interested in the transfer market properly and start up my Dream Team! Hopefully I can do well in that too! I hope Chelsea buy some more players so we can win the league!

Did you enjoy the World Cup? Who was your stand out player?

Hair Saviour

Hello...

I thought I had my hair products sorted after years of experimenting, but I was wrong.

I have found the BEST EVER curly hair product. The Aussie Curl Definition serum. Oh. My. Gawd. This has changed my hair game dramatically. Put it on wet/semi dry hair and then style as normal and hello gorgeous hair.

I thought that applying my ShockWaves Curl Shaping Mousse  kept my hair at its best, but, even with Moroccan Oil, it was always still that little bit frizzy. Well now I just use a small amount of the serum before the mousse and bye bye frizz. My curls are bouncy, beautiful and soft! I don't even need to apply much mousse.

I cannot wait to try the rest of the Frizz Collection of Aussie, hello curls, bye frizz.

World Cup!

Hello...

The World Cup starts on Thursday and I cannot wait!!! I will definitely be trying to watch ALL the games! There are two sweep stakes going on in work...in one I got Greece and in the other I had to work out who would finish where in their groups and who would win quarter finals, semi finals and the final. It's a bit more indepth than just picking out a team to win. At the end I have Germany to win the World Cup.

I always get mixed reviews when I talk so in depth about football from men and women. I always find it ever so patronising when magazines publish "the woman's guide to the world cup". Hello, there are women out there who understand football and are interested, just as there are men who don't have an interest in it. I always find that some men like to patronise by saying that as a woman I know nothing about football, or I find some feel themselves being threatened as a women is stepping in on their territory. Others think it's amazing they can talk to a woman about football. I also find some women belittling me because I love football, some even thinking I do it for attention. Alot of women are interested in football and I love that women's football is on the rise.

I can't wait for pubs to be open a bit later to show the games, I love how people come together during sporting events! Unfortunately, I don't share the optimism that England will do well. I don't even have them to get out of the group stages in my work sweep stake. I will however, continue to support them, I have my England shirts at the ready to cheer them on. I will either watch the games at home or in the pub!

Who do you think will win the World Cup? Where will you be watching it? Comment below.

Holiday...

Hello!

I have recently come back from holiday in Malta and have realised a few things...

 - No matter your skin colour, you can still burn! Now, this might be obvious but silly here forget to put sun tan lotion on my face and it burnt, oh and I also had sunglasses on so for the first three days I was walking round with a red face with white circles around my eyes. Sun damage causes wrinkles...lotion up.

- The sea makes your skin oh so dry!!! I have dry skin anyway and only took Vaseline cream with me, this didn't work. I swear by Lush's Dream Cream! It's so good for my dry skin but I managed to forget to put it in my suitcase. Now I am home and in bed, following my bath, I have slathered it all over for it to work its magic over night. For me its a night time cream that can work over night and I do use Vaseline during the day. Now my skin looks lovely a healthy and I can show off my little tan without my skin looking dry.

- Water is everything! I know this is standard but hot temperatures and all day sun bathing means serious water consumption. I find I drink water alot quicker when away because I hate drinking it when it gets hot.

- England is too cold! It hit 29 degrees in Malta and it's only May! Why can't England be like this :(

- My foundation wont match my skin tone at the moment. SO I bought the Estee Lauder BB cream that a lady recommended after overhearing me say I need something darker but not as heavy as my current foundation. I also read a rave review in a magazine, which I cant remember the name of, so thought I would give it a go. I am yet to use it but will let you know how that goes.

- My hair desperately needs a hair mask! It's so dry so I will be using my Moroccan Oil hair mask which I love because it leaves my hair sooooo soft.

Gutted to be back from my holiday as it was so relaxing and just what I needed, but now back to the daily grind and to save for the next one.

Please leave your comments below as to your essentials for your holidays!

Curly Hair!!!

Hello

I, being a mixed race girl, have curly hair. This, until a few years ago, had always been a problem with me. I'm sure that many other mixed race girls/girls with curly hair have experienced this. I would like to share tips about my hair

1. Never brush your hair!

Now I know this seems weird, but brushing your hair when dry will damage it. Always, ALWAYS, comb when wet and while it has conditioner in. I don't use a specific conditioner or religiously use one, but I do love the smell of Herbal Essence!

2. Use a hair conditioner mask!

Do this at least once a month, if not more. I love love love Moroccan Oil's hair mask and leave it in for 5 to 10 minutes after shampooing. It leaves my hair feeling so soft and looks so much healthier.

3. Trim your ends!

I bleach the end of my hair sometimes and this just makes it so dry! Every 1 - 2 months I trim my ends and every 6 months I have a "good cut". Recently, when I went to my hairdressers I told her how I felt the ends were far too dry and when she done my "good cut" I genuinely could not believe the difference! My hair literally had a new lease of life!! Also, make sure your hairdresser knows how to cut your hair, I have been with mine for years and she knows exactly how I like it and exactly how to cut it to make it look good.

4. Know what the style your hair with!

I experimented for years! I used to love the SunSilk styling crème, then they discontinued it! I was devastated, it took me a while to find a product I love. I either used things that made my hair too greasy or too dry. I then came across Shockwaves Mousse for curls. I use a lot of mousse of my hair as I have to have it in place but it doesn't leave my hair looking too greasy and does the job brilliantly. My hair will look good for hours and wont frizz up at all, which I cant stand! I always use Moroccan Oil for the ends of my hair to keep it looking healthy!

5. DON'T STRAIGHTEN IT!!!!!!!!

I can't stress this enough, it will ruin your hair. I have had my hair straightened about 5 times in my life and I hated it! It just didn't suit me! Also, after repeatedly heat use the curls start to drop, as I have noticed on friends. So many people say to me they wished that they never straighten their hair and that they still had curls like me. I am all for experimenting as I have but I would never permanently straighten my hair as I cant stand it. I regret wishing my hair was straight for most of my childhood.

I hope this helps people with hair like mine. For years I used to pull it back into a pony tail as it used to stress me when one bit of frizz emerged, but I learned to love my hair. It's not perfect but it's me!!!

Foundation Shades!

Welcome to my first post.
I am going start with one of my biggest annoyances about make up...I always find that being a mixed race it is VERY hard to find a foundation colour to suit your skin tone without being too dark or too light. I tried the No7 counter to match my skin tone and found that this didn't actually work and the make up lady had to guess which defeated the point. I relied on the foundation they provided, Warm Sand, for quite some time but always noticed that it was always a little too dark for me. They did try the shade lighter, but surprise surprise, it was too light. This is definitely my favourite foundation that I have tried, it is long wearing and doesn't become to oily or patchy. It covers well and you do not have to use a lot, nor does it look caked on.

On the recommendation of YouTube blogger Lauren Curtis I tried L'Oreal True Match shade Golden Sand, this was the closest to my skin tone but apart from being slightly too dark, I also found that it wore off during the day and became patchy. It also looked to me as it always seemed to cakey.

I am currently trying Rimmel Match Perfection True Nude and while liking the actual foundation, I again am having problems with the shade! Although with this one I do find my nose becomes a lot more oily throughout the day.

I seem to struggle with foundation tones for myself and I'm not sure where the exact problem lies, whether it is with me unable to source a suitable foundation or whether the beauty industry is not catering enough for mixed race skin tones. Although you might say there a lot of tones out there now and it should be easy, it is not. I also find that a lot of beauty magazines cater for lighter skins tones or darker skin tones, and never really depict a mixed race person.

Please leave a comment below if you have found your perfect foundation and whether you agree or disagree with my comment.
